Terms and Conditions
Every tour is different and we want you to know what you can expect of us and what we ask of you.
These terms and conditions may be adapted for your tour. Any changes will be clarified with you.
Availability. I am available all year round.
Language. All tours are guided in English language.
Guide Fees. Based on STGA guide rates for 2026. Final price will vary depending on extra hours, distance travelled and itinerary.
a. Full Day (up to 8 hours):
(1) Walking and coach panoramic tours from £345 per day.
(2) Driver Guiding from £700 per day.
b. Half Day (up to 4 hours): From £235 per half-day (if not driver guiding). A half day typically runs from 0900-1300 or 1300-1700. If a job crosses from morning to afternoon or afternoon to evening (i.e. across 13:00), a full day tariff will apply.
c. Additional Charges. Additional charges may apply for:
(1) On extended tours (tours lasting more than one day away from home), an additional charge of £160* for subsistence expenses (meals, incidentals and accommodation).
(2) An additional overtime payment of £80 is due for each hour beyond the standard day (as advertised (either 8 or 10 hours).
(3) Unusual transport or travelling expenses and time to join the tour.
4. Additional Tickets and Expenses
a. Entrances for clients to paid venues, attractions or ferries etc. are not included in fees. We can advise how and where to make bookings.
b. If you require the guide to pay for tickets to visitor attractions, ferries etc., then a 15% booking fee will be chargeable.
c. Driver-Guide Costs. Driver-guide rates usually include fuel and insurance, but parking/tolls may be extra.
d. Ferries. The use of any ferries would incur an additional cost and would be required to cover both the driver and the vehicle. Some ferry journeys can only be purchased on arrival at the departure point.
e. Airport Pick-Up / Drop-Off Fees. As part of a tour it is possible to start and / or finish at an airport, however this may incur additional charges to cover the car parking fees charged at the airport.
5. Currency. All quotes and transactions are in £ GBP.
6. Payment. Guide Fees may be paid by the following method:
a. Bank Transfer – no additional charges for bank transfers. We can provide BACs details when you make your booking.
b. Revolut/Paypal/Wise– payments by Revolut/Wise/Paypal incur a 5% surcharge.
c. Payment by International Bank Transfer.
d. SWIFT Payments.
7. Confirmation of Services.
a. A 25% non-refundable deposit confirms the booking. A detailed itinerary will be sent at this point.
b. The balance is due 21 days before the first booked touring day.
8. Cancellation Policy.
a. Cancellation charges. If a confirmed booking is cancelled then the following charges will apply, plus any unrecoverable expenditure e.g. guides pre-booked hotels and tickets. All other recoverable costs will be re-imbursed to the client.
(1) At any time after confirming the booking: loss of deposit
(2) Within Two Weeks’ Notice: 50% of the total fee
(3) One Weeks Notice or less: 75% of the total fee
(4) 48 Hours or less: 100% of the total fee
b. Cancellation Terms.
(1) In exceptional circumstances AlbaLore Tours reserves the right to cancel tours or services. Clients will be promptly informed and offered a full refund or an alternative arrangement.
(2) The guide is not responsible for cancellations due to unscheduled closures by third party suppliers or events beyond their control e.g. ferry/cruise ship cancellations, road closures, or for providing alternative accommodation as a consequence of a ferry/cruise ship cancellation or road closure.
(3) In such circumstances, the guide will make all possible steps to assist a client with finding an alternative.
9. Safety and Liability.
a. The guide is covered by personal and public liability insurance which is provided through membership of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association.
b. The vehicle and driver is also covered by ‘Hire and Reward’ insurance which is legally required for any guide who drives visitors for financial gain.
c. The guide is not responsible for any loss, accident, injury or damage to clients or their personal effects.
d. We strongly recommend that clients arrange for themselves suitable travel, medical, and cancellation insurance.
e. While the guide will give assess hazards and act in the interests of safety, clients are responsible for their own safety during walking tours or outdoor activities.
f. Walking tours will normally be limited to 25 people per guide for safety.
*Or appropriate/equivalent accommodation and meals supplied by the client.
